Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequently asked questions and answers about rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty.

How long does rhinoplasty surgery take?

Primary rhinoplasty typically takes 1-3 hours. Revision rhinoplasty may take longer, usually 2-4 hours.

What is the recovery time after rhinoplasty?

Most patients can return to work or normal activities within 1-2 weeks. However, complete healing and final results may take 6-12 months as swelling gradually subsides.

Will I have visible scars after rhinoplasty?

In closed rhinoplasty, all incisions are made inside the nose, so there are no visible external scars. In open rhinoplasty, a small incision is made on the columella, which typically heals very well and becomes barely noticeable.

When can I see the final results?

While you'll see significant improvement within the first few weeks, the final results become apparent as swelling subsides over 6-12 months. The nose continues to refine during this period.

Is rhinoplasty painful?

Most patients report mild to moderate discomfort rather than severe pain. Any discomfort is typically well-managed with prescribed pain medication.

Can rhinoplasty improve my breathing?

Yes, rhinoplasty can address both aesthetic concerns and functional breathing issues. If you have a deviated septum or other structural problems, these can be corrected during the procedure.

What is revision rhinoplasty?

Revision rhinoplasty is a secondary procedure performed to correct or improve results from a previous rhinoplasty. It's often more complex than the initial surgery and requires specialized expertise.

What is Piezo rhinoplasty?

Piezo rhinoplasty uses ultrasonic technology to reshape nasal bones with greater precision and less trauma to surrounding tissues. This can result in reduced swelling and faster recovery time.

How much time off work do I need?

Most patients need 1-2 weeks off work. If your job involves physical activity, you may need 2-3 weeks. We'll discuss your specific situation during consultation.

Can I travel after rhinoplasty?

It's generally recommended to wait 1-2 weeks before flying, as changes in cabin pressure can affect healing. We'll provide specific guidance based on your procedure.
